i think that the importance of this book is the fact of how much a person is willing to take for their freedom. freedom has everything to with this. the government seemed to be taking over peoples lives little by little but this one teenager was not about to let them get away with it. Marcus stood up for his freedom and did what he thought was right. he fought until he got what he wanted and to him that was pride and glory. he knew that his own country was in danger and that the government was the bad guy. when he got caught, yes he was scared but he didnt give up. he kept going and fighting for his rights as an american.
